E-Futures students create 'The Energy Community'
19th Sept 2014
After forming at Energy Yes, 2013, E-Futures students Alex Buckman, Nicola Lazenby and Andrew Timmis have spent the last year developing 'The Energy Community'.
The Energy Community is a unique social enterprise aiming to be the one stop shop for all advice and guidance on reducing your energy usage in the home, saving money and reducing your impact on the environment. The enterprise recognises that one size doesn't fit all when it comes to saving energy, and is therefore creating a community which enables advice, experiences and tips to be shared among similar people with similar lifestyles, motivations and homes.
Being a social enterprise means that all profits made from the company are fed back into the school and community workshop programmes which aim to make all of us more energy aware, empowering both the current and future generations to be part of our energy saving, sharing society.
TheEnergyCommunity.com website launched on Saturday 6th September with information articles, forums and blogs, with some exciting features to be developed in the coming months and years!
So far, the social enterprise has been making waves in the enterprise arena, having won the Unltd. "build it" award and a place on the School of Social Entrepreneurs, as well as making the final 5 of the Santander University of Sheffield Enterprise Awards, beating hundreds of entries to miss out by a whisker!
If you want to know more about this exciting new enterprise, you can contact them through Facebook (/theenergycommunity) Twitter (@TheEnergyCom) and email (email@example.com).
